Experience the valley of the emeralds, the famous Habach valley. The summit of the Larmkogel 3,017 m promises dreamlike views of the surrounding mountain scenery of the Hohe Tauern National Park. The Kratzenbergsee with its crystal clear water invites you to linger and refresh. A small fine time out, tour unaccompanied and individually at your own pace.
day 1
The hut hike starts at the Habachtal car park (chargeable), with an adventurous and moderate hike on the Smaragdweg with lots of information on various display boards, you hike to the Alte Moa Alm at the end of the valley. Shortly afterwards, the steeper ascent to the Neue Thüringer Hütte (2,240 m) takes place. Today’s destination of the hike has been reached, overnight stay with half board (approx. 5 ½ hours).
day 2
The next morning, the hike leads from the Habach Valley to the Larmkogel (3,017 m), where you will be rewarded with a fantastic view of the surrounding peaks. The stage continues over the Larmkogelscharte into the Hollersbachtal. On the way to the Neue Fürther Hütte, the picturesque Kratzenbergsee spreads out and invites you to linger and refresh. It is the largest natural mountain lake in the Hohe Tauern National Park. After a short descent you are at the destination of the day, the Neue Fürther Hütte (2,201 m), overnight stay with half board.
Day 3
The hike from the Neue Fürther Hütte leads downwards past the “Staomandl” to Ofner Boden, which is picturesquely located at the head of the Hollersbach valley. The path leads past lush, fresh alpine meadows and winds through the valley. On the Bachlehrweg which runs parallel to the Hollersbach, display boards convey life in and around the water, as well as information about the landscape. The end of the hike is reached at the reservoir at the entrance of the Hollersbach valley.
